DESCRIPTION:
Sipadan Water Village is located on the island of Mabul, some 45 minutes fast boat ride from the coastal town of Semporna. All of the room units are built on stilts above the crystal-clear waters. Certainly an interesting holiday option, even for the non-honeymooners and the non-divers.

There are daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau by either AirAsia or MAS. Then from Tawau airport, take a cab directly to the town of Semporna, some 100 km away, for RM100 per car. That being said, patrons normally arrive by way of minivan transfers that are pre-arranged by the resort in advance.

FACILITIES:
The resort has 45 water chalets of twin- or king-bedding configurations. The room categories are Standard water cottages, to semi-detached chalets called Junior water cottages, as well as Deluxe and Grand Deluxe water cottages for the ultimate island experience.

There is one main restaurant, also above water, which offers you regular Asian and Western fanfares. There are also resort's mini medical service, a dive center, a mini-mart and an open-air bar-cum-lounge that provides you with a combination of turquoise ocean view and eclectic selection of piped musicals.

ATTRACTIONS:
Mabul is legendary for its macro photography heaven, as well as well the world-class muck-diving it offers. Along with the recent closure of dive resort on Sipadan, (a government's measure to save the world's best marine ecosystem), this lodging option on the island of Mabul is fast becoming a hit for the tourists.

The beach at the resort is suitable for sunbathing and swimming. In fact, the water is extremely clear and very inviting even for the less-than-enthusiastic beachgoers . During my visit, security personnel could be spotted with their patrol boat, hence security should no longer become an issue for the area.

PRICING:
The 2D/1N package is quoted differently for divers and non-divers. The cheapest stay at the Junior Cottage will cost RM1,835 for diver and RM1,469 for non-diver. The package will include daily meals, land transfer from Tawau Airport (TWU) to Semporna and subsequently boat transfer to Mabul. Also included are 3 daily dives to either Sipadan, Mabul or Kapalai.
