DESCRIPTION:
Le Club Rawa is one of the only two resorts in the private island of Rawa. The other one is Rawa Safaris Island Resort, a substantially larger entity. Le Club Rawa offers extremely basic accommodation if you do not mind going back to the old days.

Boats to Rawa takes off from the jetty at Mersing, which is some 6 hours away from Kuala Lumpur. From Johor Bharu or Singapore, it's about 4 hrs. There is no airport nearby.

Usually visitors will take half-day to go to Mersing and get one of those cheap motels to sleep in before catching the next morning boat. I stayed overnight at Seri Malaysia Mersing for RM90 per room (the rate is probably slightly more nowadays).

Perhaps one could take a midnight bus from KL and arrives in Mersing early morning to catch the boats and be at Rawa beach in no time. There are plenty of boat operators and travel agents at the jetty if you arrive at normal operating hours. Ask around and get the best rate for boat transfer, lodging and perhaps food inclusive.

FACILITIES:
The are 6 basic rooms and 2 hut-style chalets, all equipped with fans and attached bathrooms. (During my stay, there were also mosquito nets, but I am not sure if they still have them nowadays). Note that the fresh water in the resort is tepid as it is a mixture of rain and sea water. If it hasn't rained for a while, which is usually the case during the dry season of March to September, your bath water can be as good as 100% saline!

There is one restaurant-cum-bar at the resort. The food selection is normally prepared by the owner (or his wife as it was the case during my stay).

ATTRACTIONS:
Fronting the resort is the beautiful beach of Rawa. The island is actually very small, hence only one beach is available here. The opposite side of the island consists of mainly near-vertical cliffs. Some snorkeling can be done on the beach, particularly on the both ends.

There is also a climbing trail somewhere behind the adjoining Rawa Safaris Island Resort. The hike will last for about 10 minutes. At the top, even more spectacular views of the island can be enjoyed.

PRICING:
Room rates start at RM160 per night inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons.
